PETG 3D printing

PETG is a non-crystalline copolyester where a certain amount of ethylene glycol is replaced by CHDM (Cyclohexanedimethanol) during production. This modification prevents crystallization, thereby improving manufacturability and transparency. PETG products are highly transparent and exhibit excellent impact resistance, making them particularly suitable for molding thick-walled transparent items.

PETG boasts superb processing and forming properties, allowing for the creation of designs in any shape as envisioned by designers. It can be processed using traditional methods such as extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, and vacuum forming. PETG finds extensive applications in markets for sheets, films, high-performance shrink films, bottles, and profiles. Additionally, its excellent secondary processing capabilities allow for conventional machining and finishing.

Characteristics of PETG

Toughness

Models made from PETG are typically 15 to 20 times tougher than general acrylic and 5 to 10 times tougher than impact-modified acrylic.

Weather Resistance

PETG models offer excellent weather resistance. They maintain their toughness and resist yellowing. PETG contains UV absorbers, which can be co-extruded into a protective layer, shielding the material from harmful UV rays.
