Dawn Titanium Industry Co., Ltd Becomes An "Industry Leader" in Energy Efficiency

On July 5th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of the People's Republic of China, and the State Administration for Market Regulation jointly released the companies lists that were energy efficiency “Front-runner” in key energy-consuming industries in 2023, with Shandong Dawn Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. on the list. Dawn Titanium Industry Co., Ltd has been the first and only enterprise in the national titanium dioxide industry to receive this honor. Prior to this, the company had been named as "Front-runner" benchmark enterprise for energy effiency of key products in the petroleum and chemical industry for 10 consecutive years. 

The establishment of the energy efficiency "leader" system for high-energy-consuming industries aims to highlight the leading role of energy efficiency standards and promote industrial energy conservation and carbon reduction. According to reports, since 2016, a total of 206 energy efficiency "Front-runner" enterprises in key energy-consuming industries have been announced in seven batches. The 69 "Front-runners" selected this time cover 30 industries nationwide. "Winning the 'national-level' honor demonstrates Dawn's leading position in the industry," said Li Jianli, the general manager of Dawn Titanium Industry Co., Ltd.

As a national-level green factory demonstration enterprise, Dawn Titanium Industry Co., Ltd boasts a 130,000-tonne/year sulfuric acid-based environmentally friendly high-grade rutile titanium dioxide production facility. Its key production technologies and equipment are imported from Germany, and the entire line achieves clean production and integrated operation. Committed to building an environmentally friendly enterprise and producing eco-friendly products, it embodies the concept of "technological innovation, clean production, and green development".  It was recognized by experts as one of the most advanced enterprises in the industry in terms of comprehensive environmental governance.

Over the years, based on the industry's experience in energy conservation and emission reduction, Dawn Titanium Industry Co., Ltd has comprehensively adopted large-scale acid digestion tank technology, using acid-soluble titanium slag as raw material to produce titanium dioxide and coupling with the seeded atmospheric hydrolysis method. While the equipment is large-scale, various energy-saving technologies are used, energy-saving equipment is selected, and waste heat is recovered. According to statistics, the company's comprehensive energy consumption per unit product is 856.7 kg of standard coal/ton, which is 9.82 percentage points better than the benchmark level of energy efficiency. Annually, it can save approximately 10,000 tons of standard coal and 800,000 cubic meters of water.

Strengthen the guiding role of standards to empower the green development of the industry. On April 29th this year, Dawn Titanium Industry Co., Ltd , as the primary drafting unit, presided over the revision of the national standard "Energy Consumption Limits per Unit Product of Titanium Dioxide and Iron Oxide Pigments" (GB32051-2024), which will be officially implemented on May 1st, 2025. Prior to this, the company was awarded the title of National Green Design Product and presided over the formulation of the industrial standard "Evaluation Requirements for Green Factories in the Titanium Dioxide Industry." 

Energy conservation and efficiency improvement are the primary sources of green and low-carbon development. After the intelligent project of Dawn Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. reaches full production, the annual production capacity of titanium dioxide will reach 300,000 tons. General Manager Li Jianli said that as the company grows stronger and larger, it would further improve its green development mechanism, consolidate its energy management system, optimize process energy-saving selection, enhance energy and resource utilization efficiency, implement "dual control and reduction," and explore "dual control of carbon emissions," and strive to be a pioneer, leader, and promoter of energy conservation and consumption reduction in the industry.
