A BPA-free Copolyester Material: PCTG Resin
What is PCTG resin?
PCTG is a transparent plastic and an amorphous copolyester. Copolyesters can be classified into four main types: PETG, PCTG, PCTA, and Tritan.
- PETG = PTA + EG + <50% CHDM
- PCTG = PTA + EG + >50% CHDM
- PCTA = PTA + CHDM + PIA
- Tritan = PCTG + CBDO
The primary difference between PCTG and PETG lies in the content of CHDM. When CHDM is less than 50% and ethylene glycol (EG) is more than 50%, it's called PETG. On the other hand, if CHDM exceeds 50% and EG is less than 50%, it's referred to as PCTG.

Characteristics of PCTG resin
BPA-Free:
- BPA can harm the immune system, and when plastics containing BPA are heated or exposed to hot liquids, harmful substances may be released that could damage brain tissue and increase cancer risk. PCTG resin is free from BPA, making it safe for human health.
Environmentally Friendly:
- PCTG resin is made from eco-friendly materials and meets food-contact safety regulations.
Excellent Chemical Resistance:
- PCTG resin is resistant to a wide range of chemicals and commonly used cleaning agents.
Crystal Clear Transparency:
- PCTG resin is colorless and transparent, with a light transmittance greater than 90% and haze below 1%, giving products a crystal-like gloss.
Easy to Process:
- PCTG resin has good flow properties, low forming temperatures, and is easy to process.
Superior Impact Strength:
- PCTG extruded sheets are typically 5 to 10 times tougher than standard impact-modified acrylic.
Weather Resistance:
- PCTG resin maintains its physical properties even at high temperatures, making it suitable for applications in high-temperature environments.
